How are Japanese schools different?

Japanese schools are different in many aspects. For example, they have free dress day everyday. They have to go to school on Saturday as well. School cooks their lunch. They eat lunch in their classroom once a day. They receive certificates with both hands in the assembly. Sports festival is held on Sunday. School year starts from April not January. Students clean the school after school. They have 10 minute toilet break every after 45 minute class. Therefore it is regarded as shame to go to toilet during the class time. They need to apologise when they are late for the class because they disturb the class and make them worry. Why do you think they are so different?
